Bear river setback levee
Yuba county, cA

Picture
Yuba Water Agency is providing Reclamation District No. 817 $2.1 million to reduce the risk of flooding and improve habitat along the Bear River. The plan is to address continued erosion and associated flood risk by constructing approximately 2,800 linear feet of setback levee, degrading the same stretch of existing levee, and using the degrade material to buttress a section of the existing levee on the north bank of the Bear River beginning at the downstream tie-in location of the setback levee and extending up to 8,500 linear feet downstream. Once the project is complete, the setback levee will reduce flood risk for the Wheatland Basin, increase channel capacity, decrease erosion susceptibility, improve habitat, and provide improved maintenance access for inspections and operations during high-water events. Stay tuned  as this project progresses.
