Director of Land Survey

Full Service Engineering & Surveying firm located in California is looking for a Qualified Licensed Land Surveyor to run all aspects of field and office survey operations in California and Nevada. Applicant must have expertise in directing and performing all aspects of acquiring, processing, analyzing and compiling data to prepare maps, documents and deliverables for boundary surveys, topographic surveys, control and design surveys, subdivisions, records of survey, ALTA/ACSM surveys, lot line adjustments and easement acquisitions, other office surveying tasks and occasional field related tasks. 

Qualifications
License in California required. License in Nevada highly preferred. If not already licensed, must have ability to acquire this license in a short time frame. CFedS Preferred not required. Must have experience with directing and communicating with field crews. Knowledge of survey field techniques. Proficient in the use of AutoCAD and Land Development Desktop (LDD) for the complete preparation of all mapping documents including but not limited to parcel maps, record of surveys, subdivision mapping, ALTA/ACSM surveys, topographical surveys, legal descriptions, boundary resolution, etc. Strong research skills and knowledge in boundary resolution. 

Knowledgeable in the function and use of the following field instruments and equipment: 
-Trimble 5800/R8 GPS Receivers 
-Trimble S6 and 5600 Total Stations 
-Trimble Survey Controller 
-TDS Survey Pro 
-Trimble Business Center 
-TDS Foresight 
-Star*Net 
-OPUS 
-Single Base RTK 
-Real Time Network RTK
 
Knowledge of California Subdivision Map Act. Persistent, assertive, self-motivated, personable. Fast Learner. Extremely Organized. Must have Phone Skills. Excellent Communication Skills. Excellent Problem Solving Skills. Ability to build and maintain relationships. Excellent Professional Interviewing Skills (ability to represent firm and speak on the general subject of surveying). Experience with the RFP/RFQ Process. 

Education & Experience
A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university. Technical survey experience in heavy civil survey projects, including job set-up and quality control processes. A minimum of five years experience in activities directly related to the area of assignment. Demonstrated working knowledge of surveying and construction staking technical practices. Highly organized, with the ability to multi-task with exceptional attention to detail. Demonstrated proficiency in the use of AutoCAD Land Desktop Development 2008, Trimble Geomatics Office, Foresight DXM, GPS, robotic and traditional survey instruments, and other PC-based software. Strong sense of urgency, excellent problem solving skills, be a team player and self-motivated.

Responsibilities
Responsible for all office survey mapping and work products. Quality control, oversight and review for all office survey work products. Oversight of field crew’s performing work. Find new avenues of work. Assist with proposals for survey services. Respond to and solve concerns/issues as they arise.
