Big Notch Project
Client:
Goodfellow Bros.
MVE is continuing to provide professional services for the Big Notch Project in the Fremont Weir State Wildlife Area. This 30,000-acre floodplain in Yolo County will help the survival of endangered fish species like salmon and sturgeon by providing easier passage to the Pacific Ocean, reducing stranding and migratory delays. This project involves the removal of an existing section of the Fremont Weir, installing three gates for the headworks structure, excavating 180,000 cubic yards to carve a new path for the fish, and the construction of a control building and pedestrian bridge. The project is expected to be completed by late 2023, so stay tuned for more updates.

Yolo County, CA
